A FOREST WEDDING
I met with the wedding couple at a meeting in the vicinity of Graz, the second largest city in Austria. The meeting was really relaxed. What I also learned at that occasion was that the couple intended to get married in a forest… Wait a moment… What? A forest wedding?
I must admit that at first, I was a bit sceptical and reluctant to such an idea. Trees and leaves just like that. You can see it everywhere or maybe not?
Thinking about the forest and with no special expectations, I arrived at the wedding venue to experience one of the greatest surprises of the year. The bride took the entire wedding organization into her own hands and prepared a real dream wedding. I was completely fascinated by wedding decoration and wedding details, which were really abundant. Effort and dedication could be seen at every step. A lot of wedding organizers could have learned from her experience.
After the wedding, I asked the bride, who I am still in touch with, to describe in her own words how it all began…
»As a little girl, every night before I fell asleep, I used to ask my father to read me the fairy tale of the Little Red Riding Hood. I listened to it so many times that my father deliberately started to change its content. Partially to make the story more interesting, and partially to make me angry.
Many years later, I set off with my best friend to look for a place where I would like to get married. However, wherever we went, I could not get the feeling I was looking for: magic, romance and connection with nature. Finally, we walked around a country estate when all of a sudden, even though I had never thought of it before, I said: “Let’s look for it in the forest.” Now that I think back on it, I had everything in the palm of my hand. Right before my nose! I just had to open my eyes. As soon as we walked through the forest gate (two old, mighty pine trees standing on the border between the pasture and the forest), everything was clear to me. All I was looking for was before me. The sun rays, bursting through the tree crowns, singing birds and the sense of close connection with nature. We walked through the forest alley and reached small round open space. We looked at each other, laughed and I only said, “Here. Undoubtedly here!”
Four months later, I took my father’s arm and he escorted me through the forest gate. I was so overwhelmed with the feelings that I could remember the event only as a collection of small segments. The moment Alexander saw me there for the first time; the tears we cried during the speeches; our hands, wrapped in a cloth, while the Irish blessing was pronounced; exchange of wedding rings and the moment he kissed me…
Musicians started playing again and it was not until then that I first noticed them. Because of the music, all the beauty of the forest and its life, and the presence of so much love and positive energy, I simply could not stop crying. From that moment, our wedding day had passed, as if it were a blink of an eye … A wedding toast with Champagne in the forest, photographing and looks full of love in the shelter of tree crowns, pleasant socializing with the wedding guests in the warm September sun, friends telling jokes with cold drinks in their hands, our parents’ speeches, the wedding dance in the moonlight, and happiness long into the night, and just dance, dance, dance…
It was all like a summer dream, to which I will return again and again.”
The bride was so enthusiastic about her experience that she decided to hand it down to other couples who are in love with nature. Now it is possible to rent exactly this wedding venue for your forest wedding celebration. You can find all necessary information HERE.
